Curriculum: Cokesbury’s Claim the Life
Middle School: Word
This year of study for younger youth the focus will be on “words for life.” Of all the Bible passages, these Scriptures are ones youth should understand and know “by heart.” This year we will be focusing on words from the Old Testament that include the Ten Commandments, the Shema, Psalm 23, and other memorable passages.
High School: Story
This year the older youth will be encountering the larger biblical story as told in the Old Testament. Through the telling of the stories that move along The Story, youth will put together bits and pieces of Bible stories they have learned in the past into a coherent and grand story of God’s amazing love for humanity.
Sunday School Year: We are happy to welcome you and your children to the 2011-12 Sunday school year at Huntingtown UMC. Our classes, for toddlers through high school, meet during the 10:30 worship service. We invite you to partner with us as we journey through this Sunday school year. Our dedicated teaching staff works during the school year from the Sunday after Labor Day through the last Sunday of May.
· Middle School and High School students will attend worship with their parents at 10:30 am and are dismissed soon after the service begins
(usually after the Children’s Moment) to proceed to their classes.
Please note: On Sundays when communion is offered as part of the liturgy, children and youth will report directly to their classrooms at 10:30 a.m. They will be dismissed from their Sunday school classrooms to partake of communion with their families during the offertory song prior to the commencement of the Holy Communion liturgy.
