Sunday School Year: We are happy to welcome you and your children to the 2011-12 Sunday school year at Huntingtown UMC. Our classes, for toddlers through high school, meet during the 10:30 worship service. We invite you to partner with us as we journey through this Sunday school year. Our dedicated teaching staff works during the school year from the Sunday after Labor Day through the last Sunday of May.
· Toddler’s (two year olds and three year olds) may be taken directly to their class room just prior to the service start.
· Preschool – 5th Graders will attend worship with their parents at 10:30 am and are dismissed soon after the service begins (usually after the Children’s Moment) to proceed to their classes.
Please note: On Sundays when communion is offered as part of the liturgy, children and youth will report directly to their classrooms at 10:30 a.m. They will be dismissed from their Sunday school classrooms to partake of communion with their families during the offertory song prior to the commencement of the Holy Communion liturgy.
Bibles for 3rd Graders: Our 3rd graders receive Children’s NRSV Bibles in November.
Partnering with Parents: As a parent or guardian, you have more influence over your child’s developing relationship with God than anyone else. Make a point to ask your child about what they learned in Sunday school and also ask to see any papers or projects they may have done that day. You can also read the Bible story to them from your own Bible and review the Bible verse with them. Discuss with them how they can apply what they’ve learned to their everyday lives. Please feel free to talk with the Sunday school teachers, Deb Gerber (our Sunday School Coordinator), or Sheila Isaacson (our Children’s Ministry Director) if we could be of help with this.
How Can You Help? There are many easy, fun ways you can use your unique gifts and talents to support your child’s Sunday school experience. Our teaching staff welcomes your helping hands in the classroom as a Missing Piece, or you may volunteer to help with Mission Projects, the Christmas Pageant, Vacation Bible School, Children’s Moments, and also many other Special Projects. Indicate your interest on your child’s Sunday school registration form or contact Sheila Isaacson to see how you can get involved!
